TeamViewer has released an important security update requesting all users update their passwords due to a recent security issue. The application has the potential to be used for remote access by malicious individuals.
Attackers are targeting TeamViewer accounts reportedly using passwords from recently stolen data from platforms such as Reddit, LinkedIn and Tumblr. With access from within remote computers they gain access to bank and finance portals allowing them to steal money.
This security breach not only creates potential access to your own account but any that are linked via your managed business accounts.
Installing the two-factor authentication and updating your password will ensure you have the best possible user protection. Directions on how to install the two-factor authentication can be found here.
Remember to select a secure password and remember to update it regularly.
