Quote versions and variations
Once a quote leaves draft it locks: the builder shows a banner telling you editing is locked, and the server enforces it. To change anything, you create a new version — a fresh draft copy of the whole quote. Versions are also how you handle variations.
- Draft — editable, not yet sent
- Sent — with the client, locked
- Accepted — client said yes; the job is won
- Rejected — client requested changes
- Superseded — replaced by a newer version
- Open the locked quote and tap Create new version in the banner, or tap the branch icon (labelled New version) on the quote's row in the job's Quote tab.
- The quote number stays and the version bumps:
Q-0001-v1becomesQ-0001-v2. Every category and line is copied into the new draft; the old version is marked Superseded and greyed in the list, but the full history stays visible. - Edit the new draft, then generate the PDF and send it again. Nothing notifies the client automatically — the new version gets its own link, and the old link now shows This quote has been replaced with the accept button removed.
Variations on a won job
There is no separate variations feature — a variation is a new version of the accepted quote. Fork it, add or reprice the lines, and send it for acceptance. When your client accepts the new version the job stays won, and the version history shows exactly what changed and when. Accepting a variation on a won job does not trigger an owner email, so check the quote list for the Accepted pill.
